Justin Bieber is getting a lesson in Brazilian law.

According to "TMZ," the pop star is being investigated by local police after being caught spray painting graffiti on a building in Rio de Janeiro. Sources are saying the Biebs was unaware that graffiti was illegal in the country, and claims he was advised by locals that spray painting on the already-graffitied walls was acceptable.

The gossip site says that the defacing of buildings in Brazil is in fact illegal, and punishable by up a year in jail, which means be could be facing arrest.

While the incident in Rio was caught by paparazzi, the singer himself took to Instagram with his graffiti work in Columbia last week.
